Hunter Strategies, L.L.C. was founded in August 2005 by Dr. David Hunter as a research consultancy specializing in strategic planning information for Microsoft technologies based on years of experience in dealing with Microsoft as both a competitor and partner.

Dr. David Hunter, Managing Partner of Hunter Strategies, L.L.C., retired from IBM in 2005 after a career spanning IBM's Research division, membership in the IBM Academy of Technology, and various development roles in both hardware and software including mainframes, disk storage, personal computers, multimedia, workstations, and servers as well as IBM's enterprise software products. This latter included a stint as Windows 2000 System Manager when he lead the team that helped bring IBM's middleware to world class status on Microsoft server platforms. In recent years, Dr. Hunter worked as an internal IBM software liaison for Microsoft technologies and served as the interface between Microsoft and IBM software development teams, as well as taking a broader corporate role as a Microsoft technology expert.

Dr. Hunter's experience made him keenly aware of the need for timely, concise, and accurate strategic planning information on Microsoft technologies for independent software vendors, original equipment manufacturers, and IT service providers. Hunter Strategies was formed to meet that need.
