That must have put a damper on the party!

Nate Mook reports for BetaNews - Power Outage Darkens LA, PDC:

Just as “Day 0″ of PDC 2005 was getting underway Monday, power disruptions hit Los Angeles and blacked out the city’s Convention Center. The outage took down all Internet connectivity and halted PDC registration and badge pick-up, but sessions and lunch meetings continued in the darkness.

Tomorrow’s the actual kickoff with the Bill Gates keynote. Might be time to hire some really big generators.

eBay Buys Skype

Posted by David Hunter at 8:09 AM ET.

Just announced in London. The Webcast started at 8AM Eastern Time. Press release and other material by following the link.

Update: Here’s an interesting juxtaposition: eBay to buy Skype in $2.6bn deal and also just announced, Oracle to buy Siebel in deal worth $5.8 billion. Actually the Siebel deal is worth only $3.6 billion because they have $2.2 billion in cash and the Skype deal could go up to $4.1 billion based on performance.
