This week Microsoft is holding its TechEd 2007 conference and there’s a variety of news:
Bob Muglia, SVP of Microsoft’s Server and Tools Business kicked off TechED 2007 by detailing the company’s strategy for Dynamic IT for the People-Ready Business (Dynamic IT). Apparently it was as bad as it sounds although there were some redeeming features.
More substantially, Muglia also announced assorted product news including the official names for Katmai and Orcas as well as revealing two acquisitions:
The president of the European Court of First Instance had promised a ruling in September on the Microsoft appeal of the European Commission’s antitrust judgement against them. Now “sources” say that the big day will be September 17. Other than the novelty of rumors about a process that moves with glacial slowness, the possibility exists that the Court may spank the European Commission and reduce or eliminate the penalties and restrictions they imposed on Microsoft. Conversely, there is also speculation that a favorable verdict for the European Commission might unleash them to go after Vista.
It was not the rumored grand anti-Microsoft alliance, but Google and Salesforce.com announced a joint offering today that links Google AdWords advertising with Salesforce.com’s online CRM service.
