The last rumor was October 16, but now Ed Oswald at BetaNews and other sources are reporting that Microsoft will launch its Zune 2 personal media players on October 2, although they are not expected to be available until November.
The big news seems to be that Microsoft will finally be entering the flash-based player arena, but flash players are really rather old hat these days. However, Microsoft may still have some further tricks up their sleeve and it occurs to me that one possible surprise would be if they finally announced availability of the Zune anywhere outside the USA.
Stay tuned for an imminent “squirt” from Redmond.
