Yesterday, Microsoft’s board declared a quarterly dividend of $0.11, up a penny from last quarter’s $0.10. It is payable December 13, 2007 to shareholders of record as of November 15. Presumably, it is a sop to shareholders concerned by the anemic stock price, but it is rather hard to figure why this is the best possible use of the cash.
