Eric Martin and Jeff Kearns are reporting for Bloomberg that the buzz on the Street is that Microsoft would like to buy Garmin, the satellite navigation gadget company.
Garmin Ltd., the biggest U.S. maker of car navigation devices, climbed as much as 5.1 percent on speculation the company may be bought by Microsoft Corp. and after an analyst raised his rating on the shares.
Garmin shares had dropped precipitously after Nokia announced the acquisition of digital mapping firm Navteq demonstrating its earnestness in competing in the navigation device space.
All things are possible, but you would think that Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices crew had enough on their plates as it is.
