In January, when Microsoft announced their first company wide layoffs, they actually only laid off 1,400 of a stated potential 5,000 within 18 months. Today the second shoe dropped and a new wave of layoffs was announced.
While the exact number has not been revealed, CEO Steve Ballmer says that they are mostly done with the 5,000, which would indicate over 3,000. Ballmer also did not rule out additional layoffs in the future.
