Reprise Media, recently acquired by the Interpublic Group, has been chosen by Microsoft to manage search marketing across its product and brand portfolio. It probably didn’t hurt that McCann WorldGroup, Microsoft’s global agency of record, is also an Interpublic company.
Apparently they’ve already been at work and it looks like there’s more on their plate than just search engine marketing for Microsoft’s products:
The firm has just begun to analyze and tweak the search efforts for both consumer and b2b products, like Office, Zune and Vista, and according to David Grubb, Microsoft’s global media director, “they have had a visible impact on our efforts already, and we’re just getting started.”
Reprise’s next steps for Microsoft include developing search efforts for public relations and contextual marketing campaigns, as well as executing strategies designed to ultimately increase search share for Windows Live.
Google and Yahoo search ads recommending that Windows Live Search be used instead? Anyhow, Windows Live Search needs all the help it can get as it seems to be stagnating while Google and Yahoo continue to grow their search shares.
