Slow motion buzz: EU Court Microsoft ruling on Sept. 17?

Posted by David Hunter at 11:18 AM ET.

The president of the European Court of First Instance had promised a ruling in September on the Microsoft appeal of the European Commission’s antitrust judgement against them. Now “sources” say that the big day will be September 17. Other than the novelty of rumors about a process that moves with glacial slowness, the possibility exists that the Court may spank the European Commission and reduce or eliminate the penalties and restrictions they imposed on Microsoft. Conversely, there is also speculation that a favorable verdict for the European Commission might unleash them to go after Vista.

As for the separate complaint that Microsoft has not been forthcoming with the documentation required by the original judgement, a spokesman for the Commission says that they are “still investigating.”   Filed under Legal, Governmental Relations, General Business, Antitrust, Microsoft   [Permalink] [TrackBack] [...]
